Alright, so I decided to start a personal game development project! 🎮
For this, I came up with the idea of creating a game where flying, stylized cat heads shoot lasers from their eyes at each other.
It’s a game concept that sounds simple, but it involves a lot of diverse knowledge to delevop it.
The name of the game? Fantasticat!
So, why head cats?
Because theys are the cutiest animals on earth! 😄
The idea of the flying head cat is to be used like drones with shooting system, collisions and much more.
This is something that will bring me closer to the best practices in Unreal Engine 5 because my goal with this endeavor is to consolidate as much information as possible about blueprints, control rigs, and mathematics in one place.
I’ll be working on all aspects, from modeling in Maya, texturing in Substance 3D Painter, to implementation in Unreal Engine 5.
But for now, in this post, we wil check the concept art.
So let’s start with that:

That’s the whole cat but we’ll going to use only the head as reference for shape and proportion.
And ok, I love the style, the eyes, the mouth…the funny whiskers 🤭
Another reference for this is the plush cat I gave to my girlfriend, its name is Sky.

I love the colors, the texture, and the appeal that this plush has, so it will definitely be heavily used during the texturing phase 🤩
